The Open Space Program

The Open Space Program is a precious resource that Dundee Township funds. With more than 1000 acres, these nature preserves are great areas for hiking, biking, birding watching, and more. The Open Spaces need more funding that Republican members of the current board oppose.

Right now, several of the spaces are in desperate need of repairs and upgrades. Jelke Creek, for example, needs the trails completely redone and protected from water. Other projects include removal of invasive species throughout most of the systems. These projects are mostly carried out by unpaid volunteers. They need access to increased funding to make sure they can continue to provide these valuable spaces for preservation and recreation.
